Template folders and file structure

We shall mention something important about the LESS and CSS folders. When making your own custom styling, you can either choose to edit the less or css files. The main LESS file containing most of the styling is theme.less. For specific elements like buttons, panel, articles etc, there are less files under the folder UIKIT.

However, if you are not a fan of LESS and would like to make changes directly to CSS, you MUST save your styling in the file named custom.css. Otherwise, if you edit theme.css, your changes will be lost the next time LESS is compiled to CSS.

The folders are as follows:

  • CSS- custom and compiled css
  • HTML- edited 3rd party modules and components
  • Images
  • JS- Javascript files
  • Layouts - PHP files eg for module positions
  • LESS- main styling files
  • WARP- framework plugin

Getting started

When you download your just purchased item, you will find several files and folders namely template, quickstart, terms, documentation and extensions. Depending on your website, the download contents will be used differently. If you already have a live site, then all you have to do is open the folder named "template" and drag the zipped file,, to a folder then upload it as you would do any other Joomla template by going to Extensions > Install > Upload file then install. You will also be required to install the extensions contained in the extensions folder one by one.
